1. The primary difference between static electricity and
current electricity is control. Current electricity flows along a controlled
pathway and provides a reliable source of electrical energy to power
appliances.
2. The three parts of an electric circuit are a source of
electricity, a pathway for electrons to flow, and an electrical device to
operate.
3. Conductors permit the flow of electric current and
insulators resist the flow of electric current. Conductors are used in circuit
pathways. Insulators are used to cover circuit pathways (i.e. rubber around
wiring in an electric cord) to prevent shock/injury.

5. A switch controls the flow of electrical current by
opening and closing a circuit. When a circuit is closed, the current can flow
in a complete loop from the negative terminal through the electrical devices
and back to the positive terminal of the battery. When that switch is open,
flow is interrupted.
6. You cannot use static electricity to run a television
because static electricity does not flow in a controlled path. It does not
provide the consistent and reliable flow of electricity required to power an
appliance.
7. You could find out if an unknown material is a good
conductor of electricity by testing it in a circuit. Create a circuit with a
functioning device, such as a light bulb, and attach two wires to either side
of the material, leading back to the battery. If the device operate when the
circuit is closed, then it is a conductor. If it does not, then it’s a
resistor.
10. Most bedrooms are wired in parallel because people want
to be able to plug in various devices and turn them on and off without
affecting other electrical devices in the room. If we didn’t use parallel
circuits, if one device were to not work, then all the devices would not work.
